Autumn is a time for appreciation and nourishment of our spirits. We celebrate a Harvest Festival in the UK, there is Thanksgiving in the US and in SE Asia is the celebration of the Autumn Moon festival. Around the world, we express gratitude and generosity.
Autumn is also the Yin to the rising Yang of Spring. Spring is natures time for growth and expansion whereas Autumn is natures time to cut back and regather ….to begin to slow down, and prepare for deep rest through the winter.
By far my favourite season, I love the shift of colour within nature, the vibrancy of orange, reds and yellows. It is my favourite time of year to walk the nearby woodlands and savour my surroundings which cultivate a deep appreciation and love of our precious land. When I walk and immerse in nature the heaviness that I sometimes carry always feels lifted, the mind more clear and the soul more nourished.
This session will be a call to slow down and nurture spirit. Metal energy, in Traditional Chinese Medicine relates to our ability to slow down and see the true value and importance in life. To slow down does not always come naturally especially when modern living is built around services, communications and travel becoming faster and more efficient.
How might we shift and adapt if we live according to the wisdom of Ralph Waldo Emmerson who wrote :
“Adopt the pace of nature. Her secret is patience”
The singing bowls and sound instruments will meet you with the intention to soothe, calm, nourish and restore your whole being so to help cultivate the capacity to meet change with wisdom and ease.
Sound meditations are open to everyone. All you need to do is relax and be open to receive. Let go of all expectation and take on shoshin, the beginners mind.
Our session will be a soundscape where I immerse you in beautiful instrumental sounds that can bring a nurturing energy to our whole being. These Sound meditations are a great way to unplug from the fast activities and stresses that can often be the reality of life and open ourselves to a slower pace. Sound frequencies can help slow down the brainwaves by shifting from the more active (beta) state to a more relaxed (delta) or deep meditation or dreamlike (theta) state. When the mind is relaxed, the body softens and it is here that we can begin to experience subtle shifts in energy which may cultivate a pathway on a journey towards self healing.
I will begin the session with a guided meditation to relax the body calm the mind preparing you to receive the sounds and vibrations from instruments played.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Bring a yoga mat or other soft mat to lie on plus a pillow, blanket and eye mask ( or scarf to cover the eyes ). You may also choose to bring a soft reclining chair if you prefer.
