the element of earth

Join me in the beautiful gardens of Samsara for a day of yoga, movement and sound. I love this time of year as we shift towards Autumn. We will be in the late summer season of the Chinese Five Elements, which is represented by the element of Earth. The Earth element governs ease of transitions. How can we transition through life changes and daily life with more fluidity, ease and less resistance……. how might we be better equipped to face unexpected challenges or change?

Earth energy represents the ability to be stable, balanced and centred.

Our movement practices will explore the connection of feet to Earth and crown to Sky as we root to rise.

We have a tendency to remain in our minds when faced with challenges. This can lead us to feeling overwhelmed and ungrounded as our focus is high up, in the head, however, what might happen if we begin to drop in to the body and guide our energy from the mind down through the heart and towards the Earth. We will explore the energetic anatomy of the Stomach and Spleen which are the Yang and Yin paired organs associated with the Earth element. We will look at the meridian channels ( energy pathways) for these paired organs and nourish the channels through Yoga, qigong and Sound. The emotions attached to the stomach and spleen channels can be worry, anxiety, overthinking. When the stomach and spleen are in balance, we are able to transform life experiences into that which sustain rather than deplete us. We learn to draw on our innate qualities of wisdom, calm, compassion and kindness to carry our experience in a way that is focused and nurturing.

As we emerge from Covid 19 lockdown towards a “new normal” my intention is that you will begin to cultivate the tools that will help you to navigate through life and its many changes with strength and grace.

I always offer my yoga teaching on retreats by dana which is the Buddhist spirit of generosity. Dana is from the heart. In these particularly challenging Covid times, many of us have faced or are facing changes to our financial circumstances. While some costs are fixed, I am happy to offer my teaching by dana and I hope I can support to you in some way through my teaching. Namaste x

Booking :

There will be just 10 spaces for this day retreat. While the venue capacity is greater than this I have decided to keep numbers low. This ensures that we are very safe and within all government Covid guidelines. Our practice will be in the beautiful stretch tent which Samsara have recently invested in. This means we will still be able to practice outdoors even if the weather is not dry.

If you wish to book a space, please complete the registration form (Click here)
